The audio clip also lays a plan to remove the BAA general manager, Pinkie Wilson, when her term expires in July.

“The motion is already written, we [are] only waiting for three clubs for it to be finalised. Clubs, especially in the north, that do not belong to the same faction as him are not happy that is why they want to remove him,” one of the club representatives is captured saying in the audio. According to the audio, Sportsview Athletics Club chairperson, Glody Dube, will replace Wilson as general manager when the time comes.

The plan is not to renew her contract because she belongs to the current regime. “If our plan can work out, we are going to see athletics growing. There are many clubs that are not happy and the motion can easily pass,” the audio further said. One of the affiliates felt that Theetso, who is the Jwaneng Athletics Club president, is influential and that is why the Jwaneng club coach, Thatayaone Lefatshe ,is always selected as the national team coach. “Lefatshe was leading the national team at the African Games, Africa Senior Championships amongst others.

That is why even when some athletes from his place tested positive for banned substances, the names were kept under wraps,” an affiliate argued. Speaking to MmegiSport, Theetso said he was aware of the plan to pass a motion of no confidence against him. “Those people apologised when they learnt that I was aware that they want me out of office. The plan has failed. You should ask them what they are fighting for,” he said. When asked about Wilson’s job, Theetso said removing her from office is not an easy process as people think she was elected, but rather employed.
