Alex Malete's charges broke the deadlock first in the 25th minute through forward Leungo Senwelo who hit the ball past Namibian goalkeeper, Melissa Matheus. Namibia's captain Zenatha Coleman came to her side's rescue and levelled the scores in the 38th minute through a tap-in. The 30-year-old capitalised on the Mares' defensive error after Sedilame Boseja came out of her goalpost after a miscommunication with her defenders. Both sides kept probing for the winning goal in the second half but their efforts were not rewarded. In the first match over the weekend, the Mares beat Lesotho 2-1 as they intensify preparations for the Women's Africa Cup of Nations due to be held in Morocco later this year. There is uncertainty over the tournament's dates, with CAF yet to confirm when it will be held.
