Mamelodi got the nod ahead of Olebile Sikwane and will be at the helm until August 31.

There is no clause for extension or renewal, according to sources. BFL has called a press conference tomorrow where Mamelodi's appointment will be confirmed, while the body will also announce board members that have been co-opted into the executive committee. The developments come amidst continuing tensions within the BFL.

Minister of Youth, Gender Sport and Culture, Tumiso Rakgare further threw the cat amongst the pigeons on Wednesday night during the launch of Ashford Mamelodi's book, 'Protecting The Game'.

Rakgare criticised the football leadership and while he did not mention names, appeared to accuse Botswana Football Association (BFA) president, Maclean Letshwiti of protecting BFL chairperson, Nicholas Zakhem and board member, Jagdish Shah. Although Rakgare has been criticised for 'xenophobic' sentiments, he stuck to his words on Wednesday when he said the game of football belongs to Batswana.
