According to Letlhakane Police Station Commander, Superintendent Michael Maphephu, the four youths are accused of raping a young woman they know near a graveyard at the Letsibogo ward.

He added that the victim was returning home from an entertainment spot when she was violated early on Saturday morning. Maphephu stated that it was reported that four teenagers had sexually assaulted an eighteen-year-old girl, dragging her to a bush next to a graveyard, and then taking turns sexually abusing her.

"The victim cried out for assistance during the attack, and they fled when they realized that people in the neighbourhood were waking up," he continued. Hours after the incident the suspects, who are aged 18 and 19, were apprehended, partly thanks to the victim's ability to provide a detailed description and knowledge of the perpetrators. Maphephu said reports of rape incidents in their policing region are alarming. He emphasised that while everyone has the freedom to go wherever they like, safety should always come first, especially for young women, adding that people should never travel alone at night.

The Letlhakane station commander also noted that criminals who prey on women after a night out typically do not enter the club; instead, they remain outside and target ladies who return home alone after a night out. The four teens will appear before the Letlhakane Magistrate’s Court today.
