Rape accused, 43, impregnates 13-year-old

The accused, Michael Mungofe, appeared before the Mogoditshane Magistrate's Court where his charge sheet was presented. According to the charge sheet, Mungofe "had unlawful carnal knowledge of Naledi Diteko (not her real name) without her consent" around October 12, 2023, in or near Mogoditshane.
The accused admitted to the crime and his remand was extended. The Monitor has established reports indicating that Mungofe had been living with the victim's family since 2014, as they were part of the same church. He allegedly assaulted the teenager repeatedly until she became pregnant.
In a separate case at the same court, a 22-year-old woman faces charges of arson for setting fire to a police house belonging to her boyfriend, who is a cop. The woman reportedly discovered her boyfriend cheating on her before setting fire to the police residence, causing damage estimated at P49,198. Chief Magistrate, Gofaone Morweng, granted the woman conditional bail of P2,500 and ordered her not to communicate with potential witnesses.
