Pressure on GU - Double Action coach

The two teams played to a 1-1 draw at the Lekidi West Grounds on Saturday afternoon.
They remain second and third respectively. They are level on 13 points and two behind Security Systems who were in action yesterday. Double Action have dominated the women football scenes in recent years but GU have been coming up well. Some bit of rivalry has emerged between the two sides.
It reached its peak when The Reds signed Double Action’s top goalscorer, Otlametse Gaonyadiwe on transfer deadline day. Responding to SportMonitor questions on title ambitions, Monene said pressure is on GU as they are better resourced and prepared for the season. “I think the question you are asking should be directed to GU because people are saying they managed to sign good players. How many players at GU play for the national team? Close to nine. So I had only four who went to Turkey. So they are the ones who should push hard.
You should direct the question to GU because I did not sign any players. I am using the same players we had last season; there is no new player,” said Monene. The Reds Ladies looked the better of the two teams early with Gaonyadiwe and Laone Moloi proving to be a thorn on the opposition.
GU took the lead 34 minutes into the game as Moloi met Kesegofetse Mochawe’s free-kick from the blind spot and tucked into the near post. It was an onslaught attack from the Reds but were let down by their poor finishing. Double Action came close on the 41st minute but Boitumelo Gammu’s free-kick was well saved by the goalkeeper. GU took a 1-0 lead into the halftime break. Five minutes into the second half, it was Double Action who looked to put coaches’ instructions to practice as Gammu was once again denied scoring by Tlamelo Pheresi from a free-kick.
They appealed for a penalty as Oteng Bonang was fouled. But the referee instead awarded a free-kick on the edge of the box. The Reds’ defence was eventually breached as Bonang tapped in Gammu’s teasing cross on the first of the three additional minutes to level the matters.
