BGCSE results show slight improvement

This was announced by Education and Skills Development minister, Douglas Letsholathebe, at a press conference this morning. He indicated that the results indicate an overall improvement in the performance of students across the board "The proportion of students achieving 6 Cs or better has increased from 21.37% in 2022 to 22.15% this year making an improvement of 0.78 percent. The proportion of students achieving 6 Es or better has also seen an improvement, rising from 63.28% in 2022 to 62.59% this year," Letsholathebe said.
"Additionally, the proportion of students achieving 6 Gs has increased from 95.06% to 94.45%, while the proportion of students achieving Grade G or better has decreased slightly from 96.15% to 96.44%." He stated, "The data shows that our schools are making progress in terms of academic achievement. We are pleased to see an increase in the proportion of students achieving higher grades, such as 6 Cs or better and 6 Es or better." The minister highlighted that BGCSE is assessed through a syllabus-based method that calculates performance based on total number and percentage of grades awarded. "BGCSE being a syllabus based qualification, performance was measured by the total number of grades and the percentage of grades awarded," he added. Furthermore, Letsholathebe highlighted the importance of continuous monitoring and evaluation of the education system to ensure that students are receiving the highest quality education possible.
He stated, "We must continue to invest in our schools and provide ample resources to support the learning and development of our students. By doing so, we can ensure that all students have the opportunity to succeed and achieve their full potential."
