Boitekanelo College recently hosted an Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Development Workshop, led by Gershenson, a prominent figure in the field of social entrepreneurship.

Gershenson, currently a Fulbright Specialist at Boitekanelo College, has a wealth of experience, having co-founded and served as the CEO for two Kenyan startups and advised and launched several companies in East Africa. The workshop, conducted at the main campus in Tlokweng, brought together key stakeholders from various industries, including education.

The primary goal was to comprehend what a fragmented system looks like and to establish at least a singular perspective on the current state of the ecosystems. Additionally, the seminar aimed to envision the possible future state of entrepreneurship ecosystems in Botswana.

Throughout the event, participants generated solutions through individual and group discussions. Ideas and solutions were brainstormed and Gershenson informed The Monitor that, in collaboration with Boitekanelo College, they intend to create a blueprint. "Our goals were achieved, and what we did was to come up with several points of view of what an ecosystem could possibly be," he said.

"There were two takeaways from a gathering like this. First, it is a takeaway for the individual participant, for each person to apply what they learnt here into action. The other takeaway is the next steps. It is now my job to take these multiple points of view and shape them into a document that I think both participants and other people in the entrepreneurial ecosystems can use as information. We aim to transition this highly capacitated ecosystem into something more productive," Gershenson said.
