The car owner discovered the vehicle missing around 6:40am. No2 District Officer Commanding, Senior Superintendent Paul Oketsang, shared details of the case with The Monitor. He explained that the owner had returned from Gaborone at around 11pm, parked the car outside the yard, and went to sleep. The car was gone when he woke up the next morning.

The victim promptly reported the incident to the police, who initiated an investigation to locate the suspect(s). Oketsang added there hasn't been any breakthrough in the case, and the unknown suspect(s) are still at large. “I am urging motorists to avoid leaving their vehicles parked outside the yard when retiring to bed. They should also install security gadgets like alarms to enhance the security of their vehicles and ensure that their vehicles are locked at all times,” Oketsang said.
