Triccs Birthday Comedy: A night filled with laughter

The night was filled with laughter as most of them came fully prepared to make the birthday boy’s day bright.
A number of comedy fanatics who wanted to blow off the steam after a hectic week from work and school decided not to miss out. Closing the show, the man of the moment, Triccs, made a grand entrance. Lenyora la Kasi, as he is popularly known, made sure he adhered to the theme and made jokes on why he does not want to grow but stay young forever. His jokes were as usual about Kasi life and manyora (Pantsulas).
The event was kick-started by Baldwin Bals who was the co-Master of Ceremony (MCee) with endless jokes that left the audience in stitches. He made jokes about how he dated his former schoolteacher years after completing his studies. But she continued treating him like a child, his past relationships in which he dated a young woman from Bobonong and always made sure he showed off his hard working skills.
He also talked about how he wanted to impregnate her so that she would not leave him. But she reversed the pregnancy and left him with a huge tummy, saying he was afraid to trim it because he did not want people thinking he terminated the pregnancy. He also teased some of the revellers who did not seem to mind and laughed the jokes off. His jokes continued throughout the night until he handed over to the co-MC Johnny Pule. Pule further made jokes of how Batswana are used to butchering the English language. He gave an example of words such as, ‘Go Claimer’ and ‘tshasment’ that are regularly used. He also made jokes about his brown tooth and how the poor and rich live differently.
This time around, the organisers decided to include female comedians, Shalom and Stella Atsile, who also did their best even though they seemed a bit shaken by performing in front of a large audience. That is usually what happens with a number of new performers but their performances were exceptional for newbies. Meanwhile, Phetso who is doing very well in the industry and proves to be growing each day warmed up the room with his hilarious jokes. The young man passed jokes on the popular cartoons Bob the Builder saying they misled the public more especially children by making building a house easy and quick while the reality is that building was a hard thing. He added that at Kasi (the ghetto), he saw some buildings take about 10 years or more to get completed. From Kasi, he said he saw how life was different from the suburbs lifestyle.
He explained that kids in the suburbs had powers adding that he saw their parents telling them not to show in public. That made people wonder what he would do if he had powers. He added that if he had powers, he would use them to do house chores and many more things his heart desired. He also joked of how he would get in trouble for breaking a cup and getting a lifetime beating from his mother even if she just arrived from church. He mimicked how she would sing gospel while beating him. However, he said if he were born in the suburbs, he would rather be comforted and asked if he was okay than being flocked.
Other rib crackers who made the comedy night a success include Dexter who joked about how independent and clever township children were made to do things from an early age and given less money to take public transport to school while others had to walk to school. He also made jokes of how life would be if comedy was a government programme saying life would be hard for comedians. Young Rinyane, who had taken a break from comedy, also made jokes about the difference between living in the township and fields (masimo).
