Police say such cases often end up at their door step when they could have been resolved amicably at home. Mogoditshane Police Station commander, Superintendent Boemo Bok said nowadays Batswana are exhibiting a frightening tendency of lack of self-control which often leads to violent behaviour.

“We are overwhelmed by reports of fights involving intimate partners, especially boyfriends and girlfriends and other people in general. These cases often take place at places of entertainment," said Bok, adding that the cases mostly revolve around accusations of cheating between partners. The police chief said in some cases grievous bodily harm has occurred, even death.
