He is optimistic that the projects will be completed on time and within budget, which will benefit the community and the district as a whole. Mochotlhi highlighted the 25 km internal road project as one of the main projects that are progressing well and is expected to be completed by early next year.

This is however, a major accomplishment for the TDC and will have a significant impact on the district. He also mentioned that the total cost of the project is P370 million, which is a significant investment in the infrastructure of the district. “The tarred road covers wards like Letlapeng, Lenganeng, Mmaratanang and Metlhabeng.

The project also includes storm water drainage and solar street lights for that area,” he said in an interview. In addition, he noted that the contractor is currently 25% ahead of schedule on the project. While discussing the infrastructure projects in Tlokweng, he also mentioned a separate project costing P20 million to install street lights in the whole Tlokweng area. He stated that this project is also progressing well. Furthermore, the chairperson mentioned installing street lights is meant to address the problem of poor lighting and crime in the area, as well as the lack of tarred roads.

To address the issue of overcrowding in classrooms in Tlokweng‘s primary schools, the chairperson said that the council is constructing a new primary school in Mmaratanang ward. He said the new school will help to alleviate the overcrowding problem, which will improve the learning environment for students.

While he said the ideal classroom size is 25 students, some of Tlokweng’s primary schools currently have 40 to 50 students per class, which is not conducive for a good learning environment. He said this is one of the main reasons for the construction of the new school. As for the paving roads in other areas of Tlokweng, the chairperson stated that P10 million has been budgeted for the next financial year. “This money will be used to improve the infrastructure and accessibility of Tlokweng’s wards,” he stated.
