This latest development was confirmed by the BPP deputy secretary general Tiroeaone Ntsima who is also tipped to represent the UDC in Francistown East in this year's general elections.

"The BPP is happy with the number of constituencies it has been given to manage and the party will do everything to ensure that we win them for the UDC come 2024, " Ntsima told Mmegi in an interview.

The Francistown East allocation completes the exercise of constituency allocations by the UDC among its contracting partners in Botswana National Front (BNF), Alliance for Progressives (AP), Botswana Patriotic Front (BPF) including the BPP.

Meanwhile, the UDC has also allocated four constituencies of Nkange, Selebi-Phikwe West, Palapye and Mahalapye West to former Botswana Congress Party (BCP) legislators who were fired by the party for defying a party caucus.

The above constituencies are held by legislators Dr Never Tshabang, Dithapelo Keorapetse, Onneetse Ramogapi and David Tshere respectively.

Following completion of constituency allocations by the UDC, the BNF emerged as the biggest beneficiary with 26 constituencies followed by the BPF, AP and BPP with 14, 11 and five constituencies respectively.
