‘Jwaneng mine built on Masisi’s borehole a historical fact’

Masisi in July told Sese village residents during a kgotla meeting that the Jwaneng mine was built on his late father’s ‘Jwana’ borehole. Last month in a kgotla meeting, Masisi tried to clarify that what he meant was that the mine was built near his father’s farm not the other way round. Masisi said he was misunderstood when he uttered the statement in Sese.
But today in Parliament State President assistant minister Dumezweni Mthimkhulu denounced Masisi’s Molepolole clarification stating that the statement made by the President that “Mine wa Jwaneng o agetswe mo sedimeng sa ga Rre” is factual.
“When the President said ‘Mine wa Jwaneng o agetswe mo sedibeng sa ga Rre’, this is a historical fact, one that is not offensive nor: does it in any way affect national security, therefore, the President will not withdraw this statement, because it is a fact”, Mthimkhulu told parley. He was responding to a question from Mahalapye East legislator Yandani Boko who had asked among others if the President is willing to withdraw the above statement and offer an apology to the nation. Mthimkhulu made it clear that Masisi cannot withdraw the statement because it is based on a historical fact which is true.
He further indicated that even though Masisi has a speechwriter who does intensive research on government policies, to create factual and informative speeches, the speechwriter however, does not write the President’s speeches for Kgotla meetings.
