City Polar yesterday beat Prisons XI 1-0 in a league tie played at the SSG grounds. They have now entered the top four bracket but the technical team says the team is not under pressure to secure a promotion spot. “We started with our preseason very late so we are still far behind in terms of preparation the things some of; it is a work in progress. We would like to finish in a respectable position. We are not putting ourselves under pressure.

Most of our players have left, so without putting more pressure on the players we need a top four position,” said City Polars’ assistant coach, Amuchelani Fani. It was a quick start into the game as both teams had to deal with threats inside the first 10 minutes. City Polar's Kealeboga Koko cleared an opposition chance as the goalkeeper showed butterfly fingers on the sixth minute.

On the other end, Vincent Monamati cleared a ball on the goal line a minute later. Tumo Keiketlile had a go for Prisons from the edge of the box but the keeper was well positioned to deal with the attempt on the 23rd minute. Two minutes later, Morapedi Kengaletswe put City Polar in the lead as he tucked from close range with the Warders’ defence caught napping. Miguel Kgomo was clear on goal on the 31st minute but his strike was wide off the goal. Mokunye Shakambayo put a pin point cross for Tapologo Gabadise but the striker’s headed attempt went over the bar on the 39th minute. Seven minutes into the second half, Kgomo squandered a chance for City Polar as he skied his effort with the keeper off his line.

Three minutes later, substitute, Brian Lekwape scored for Prisons but the goal was ruled out for offside. Kagiso Ralekwalo was afforded space from a corner kick but his header was over the bar on the 80th minute. The visitors held on to take three points at the hands on the Warders.
