Police nabbed the two when searching the Toyota Hilux vehicle they were driving loaded with goods from South Africa on transit to Zimbabwe on Saturday morning around 10am. In an interview with The Monitor, Martins Drift Police Station Commander, Superintendent Moses Morolong, confirmed that the duo both aged 26 were found in possession of 285 sachets of dagga hidden inside a chest of drawer that was loaded in a trailer that was pulled by the car they were travelling in. “During the search, the police found and seized the wrapped sachets suspected to be dagga estimated to weigh four kilograms with a street value P20, 000. They will soon be taken for weighing and analysis while investigations into the matter are ongoing,” he said. Morolong said dagga smuggling remains a concern as they continue to arrest Zimbabwean nationals in possession of drugs at the border.
