Amutenya, Makgantai back before DC

The Reds slapped the two with an indefinite suspension on October 10 for separate disciplinary matters. The club did not reveal reasons for the suspensions but MmegiSport was informed that Amutenya was involved in a fight in training. The hard tackling Namibian defender is said to have come to blows with winter signing, Poloko Nkalolang after a training session in October. On the other hand, Makgantai had gone AWOL from training after the team's CAF Confederation Cup assignment against SuperSport United in South Africa last month. The player is said to have returned to duty after a week and without reason. Amutenya and Makgantai have since missed four matches each.
Speaking to MmegiSport this week, GU's marketing and communications manager, Herbert Letsebe confirmed the duo will return before the DC today. "The disciplinary processes are still going on. The disciplinary issues are a process and cannot be solved over night. So the panel that is handling the issue has referred the matter to Friday (today) because there are certain technicalities that we needed to look at from both parties, the club and the players. So the disciplinary process continues on Friday," he said. As the two players endure time away from the field, Amutenya this week dropped a hint that he could leave the club. The defender posted a message on his Facebook page suggesting he could be on his way out. "Every good thing comes to an end,"
Amutenya said in the post, which prompted speculation the Namibian could be leaving the Reds. "I cannot comment on Amutenya’s social media activity. I do not know that he is on his way out. As far as we are concerned, he is still our player, he is still contracted to the club. As far as we know, we are going through a disciplinary process with him and we will inform all our stakeholders once the process is concluded," Letsebe said.
Amutenya has been included in Namibia’s preliminary 40-man squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers opening games.
