Tlokweng Police Station commander, Superintendent Unoziba Rari told The Monitor that the tragedy was reported Saturday morning at around 9am by the victim’s neighbours.

“A passerby saw the house burning and alerted the victim’s neighbours and the police. The cost of the damage has not yet been established and there was neither human loss nor injury as the sole tenant was away at work,” he said.

However, Rari said the owner of the house said his house was valued at P250, 000 whilst the tenant lost property valued at around P10, 000. He stated that by the time the fire department arrived at Modipane, the house had burnt to ashes. Investigations are ongoing to establish what could have caused the fire, the police chief said.
