Matibini first-ever Miss Game City queen

The pageant was held as one of the events organised by the mall to celebrate its 21 years of existence. In its inaugural moment, Matibini’s dreams finally came true as she achieved one of her life’s aspirations.
By winning the Miss Game City pageant, Matibini walked away with a whooping P35,000 in cash prize money and a mobile phone. From the first walk on the runway, the 28-year-old beauty queen stole the hearts of many in attendance and was deemed the favourite to take the crown home.
She was an epitome of true beauty and it was no surprise when the judges eventually adjudged her as the fairest of them all. Matibini, who is an advocate for women's empowerment, said people should understand that there is more to beauty than meets the eye.
She said the beauty of women could be found in their compassion, conduct around others and their ability to shape the world to be a better place. “Beauty is found in women because they are versatile; they can be anything they want to be and I believe they can bring change to the societies that we live in,” she said. Additionally, Matibini described herself as a go-getter and never let anything stand between her and her aspirations.
“I am a renegade. My dreams are as sure as the sun that glistens in the African heat.
I am a champion, a winner who basks in the glory of those who conquered before my time,” she stated. Matibini is now set to be the face or ambassador of the Game City Mall.
Her role includes promoting the mall by creating engaging content.
Lesego Makalang who was one of the adjudicators indicated that she was greatly amused about how Matibini conducted herself throughout the fierce competition which pitted 30 great women. She added that Matibini established herself as a favourite mainly of how she asserted herself and spoke greatly of women and herself. Matibini was not the only winner on the night as her runner-ups also did not go home empty-handed.
The first runner-up, Kefilwe Gabonakemo walked home P23,000 richer while the second runner-up Obakeng Garefane bagged P21,000 for her efforts. Game City manager, Osadi Nthaga, expressed immense gratitude towards those who supported their first-ever pageant.
She said they owed the pageant’s success to the support they have got and pointed out that through this, they want to give back to the customers who have supported them incessantly over the years.
“This beauty pageant was part of appreciating how Batswana has been supporting us over the years and Game City Mall has been standing throughout these years only because of the customers that continue to support us,” she said.
