‘Piro’ content with GU progress

The Reds beat rookies, VTM FC 2-0 in a Botswana Premier League (BPL) game played at the National Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Forward Thatayaone Kgamanyane had a goal in each half to become the second player to bag a brace this season after Segolame Boy of Township Rollers.
Speaking to SportMonitor, Moloi said the CAF Confederations Cup adventure has done the Reds a bid deal ahead of the BPL campaign as his side nears its full potential. “We are happy; the Confederation Cup as much as we would have wanted to do well in it, has set up us good for the new season. We can only build from here and go forward,” he said.
The Reds were the first to ask the questions when Thero Setsile, headed a cross from the left wide on the seventh minute before Mpho Kgaswane shot wide from the edge of the box. VTM’s first chance came on the 28th minute when Kennedy Taukobong met a corner kick with a bullet header but it went over the bar.
GU opened the scores when Kgamanyane scored on the rebound of an initial attempt by Kgaswane on the 32nd minute. Two minutes later, Thabang Khuduga forced a save from the goalkeeper with a powerful shot from a tight angle. It was 1-0 at the break with GU closing in a dominant first half. Five minutes into the second half, Kgamanyane doubled the lead as he headed home Mothusi Johnson's free kick to make it 2-0. Sfiso Myeni nearly pulled one back for VTM on the 63rd but was unlucky to hit the cross bar. The former champions were not really troubled on the afternoon and move on to seven points and two behind leaders Rollers.
