The frequency of pedestrian accidents has been a cause for concern, with Mogoditshane police recording one to two cases every week. Mogoditshane Police Station commander, Superintendent Boemo Bok expressed worry about the surge in pedestrian deaths and home invasions. He outlined the steps being taken to The Monitor.

"We have begun deploying police officers by the traffic lights and zebra crossings along the Mogoditshane/Molepolole highway during peak hours — in the morning when people are rushing to work and when they finish for the day — to raise awareness about road safety. This includes ensuring that people use the zebra crossing, controlling traffic, and making sure drivers stop to allow pedestrians to cross," explained Bok.

Additionally, police officers have been stationed in hot spot areas such as Mmopane Block 1, Ledumadumane, Mogoditshane Block 5, and 9 to conduct night patrols.

This initiative aims to enhance the protection of homes against invasions by criminals.

Bok highlighted the recent trend of criminals targeting households, robbing innocent people of their hard-earned cash, mobile phones, electronics, and other valuables.

"We had to find ways to curb these crimes as people are now living in fear of criminals even in the comfort of their homes," Bok emphasised.
