The Monitor learnt that the victim, described as a 'habitual thief,' was caught red-handed in the act of stealing, prompting the furious mob to take justice into their own hands, leaving him lifeless in the street.

Molepolole Police Station Commander, Superintendent Benedict Matlho, confirmed that they are actively investigating a murder case following the incident.

Matlho provided details, stating that the young man from the same ward was discovered lying motionless by a passerby on Friday between 9pm and 10pm. The passerby reported the matter to the police.

"Police rushed to the crime scene, transporting him to Scottish Livingstone Hospital, where he remained hospitalised until succumbing to his injuries early Saturday morning.

Allegedly assaulted by members of the community, no arrests have been made in connection to the case. However, investigations are ongoing to determine the sequence of events and identify those responsible for the assault," Matlho clarified.
