Ditiro Leero takes on home show

The event will be held at Zone 4 Farm at Selokolela on October 28, 2023. Addressing the media recently, DT, as he is famed to his legion of fans, said he is taking his first-ever biggest music show to his home village as a tribute to his natives to give them a chance to see him perform live on stage.
He also said hosting the event at home would also allow the young and the old to interact on the day.
“I am taking this show to Selokolela so that if we bring senior citizens from my village to teach the youngsters different traditional dances, they do not have to travel all the way to the city. We also want to share this life-changing experience with my people,” he explained. Ditiro Leero is a Setswana traditional dance and song artist whose music combines Setapa, Phathisi, Hosana, Sebiriwa and other traditional dances found in Botswana.
He told members of the media that he comes from a talented family in terms of traditional song and dance something that forced him to learn the craft at a very tender age. “My father is from Sesung-sa-ga-Ngwaketse and that is where many traditional dance and song groups learnt dancing. I took my show to Selokolela because my home people dance and love traditional music.
Traditional choirs (Dikhwaere), Setapa and Phathisi dance are part of their lives,” he added. Furthermore, DT said through the event, they intend to also give upcoming artists, especially those whose crafts are more about preserving the Setswana culture exposure. He added that they wanted to groom upcoming talents since there were a number of young people who always showcased their talents through different shows but always failed. Meanwhile, folklore poet Edwin Moroka, known as Serurubele, applauded Ditiro Leero for hosting the event saying it would bring different traditional artists together. He added that it was high time artists came together for the sole goal of preserving culture. He also said through the event, young people and children would be able to learn more about their culture.
He pointed out that it was through them that Setswana culture would be preserved and passed on to the next generations. For his part, the event’s public relations officer and promoter Dops Baipidi said they invited many traditional song and dance artists including dikhwaere. He explained that performers at the event include Ditiro Leero himself, MmaAusi, Matsieng, Machesa Traditional Group, Tawana ya Koma, Kgokgonono, Gape Bame, Fox Matlopi, Sua Pan, Mmalaloo, local folklore poet Serurubele, Ntirelang Berman, Mokgalajwe to mention but a few.
He said they have engaged professional security guards, bouncers and car marshals to provide security and secure clients’ properties. However, he pointed out that finance was always the stumbling block that automatically affected the plans and procedures like appropriate venue and other logistics. The show is scheduled to start at 11:30am. Entrance fee is as follows; a standard ticket goes for P100 and a double ticket is sold at P180. They also have a Lesamutlha VIP package at P1,000 and it includes a ticket, a Ditiro Leero CD of a person’s choice, a plate and a cup branded Ditiro Leero together with a shirt.
