Ball Game:BONA accuses some netball teams of sabotaging Independence Holidays tournament.

The three clubs are not attending the tournament citing lack of resources to travel. Botswana Police Netball teams manager, Mopati Molefe told MmegiOnline that resources are not permitting for them to travel. “We are struggling. The way things stand at the moment, it could be better if we had a league. We need a netball league with a sponsor,” he said. Florah Kedibonye of BDF Cats said they had informed BONA that they will not be able to attend the tournament.

BONA secretary general, Thulaganyo Retshabile said the absence of Police, Prisons and BDF at the tournament affects the quality of the games. She said it was disappointing that despite the clubs being informed about the tournament in August, institutional teams could not make it. “Clubs were informed about this tournament way back and we thought the time frame was enough for all teams to prepare for this event. Lack of resources in institutional teams came as a surprise,” she said.

However, Retshabile said the tournament is going smoothly and teams based in the North honoured the invitation. The tournament comes to an end on Monday. Participating teams: Tasc, Tafic, Thunderbolts, Boteti River Giants, Maun Heroes, Uprising Stars, Nick and Morupule.
