In an interview with the pageant coordinator, Palesa Kganyego, she explained that the new license holders of Miss Earth Botswana are dedicated to promoting environmental awareness and positive change within their beautiful nation. She also stated that the winner will drive away in style with a brand-new Mazda 2 Demio, ensuring both elegance and practicality.

“In addition to this, they will receive a year’s worth of groceries, providing sustenance and support for their journey ahead. "The opportunity to pursue a certificate course of their choice will further enrich their personal and professional development,” she said.

Furthermore, she said the winner will receive a wardrobe sponsorship courtesy of Glass Creations while their fitness journey will be facilitated with a gym sponsorship from Fitfinity Gymnasium.

“These are just a glimpse of the fantastic rewards awaiting the winner, making Miss Earth Botswana 2024 an enticing and life-changing experience,” she said. Additionally, she explained that their mission was to empower young women and engage the community in environmental advocacy. She said Miss Earth Botswana is aimed at raising awareness about pressing environmental issues and inspiring sustainable change saying their contestants would be ambassadors for environmental conservation.

She also highlighted that they were seeking to engage communities across Botswana in eco-friendly initiatives and educational programmes, encouraging everyone to take action for a greener future. Kganyego also said Miss Earth Botswana was committed to empowering young women to be strong, confident, and influential advocates for environmental responsibility. “Join us in making a difference and becoming a symbol of positive change in Botswana. Miss Earth Botswana is not just a pageant; it’s a platform for environmental stewardship, leadership, and empowerment. "Let us unite for a sustainable future and inspire generations to come.

Together, we can make a lasting impact on our environment and our society. Candidates should have a strong commitment to environmental causes and a demonstrated history of environmental activism and awareness,” she pointed out.

Additionally, Kganyego said just like any other beauty pageant, physical appearance and poise were important factors. She added that contestants should represent the ideals of beauty and grace. She also said contestants should be articulate and able to communicate effectively about environmental issues, both in interviews and during the pageant. Kganyego explained that they will also have a talent competition, so contestants may be evaluated on their unique talents and abilities. She added that judges often assess a contestant’s personality, charisma and ability to connect with others. She also said a history of community service and involvement could be a positive factor in the selection process.

She explained that contestants who could inspire and make a positive impact in their role as Miss Earth Botswana were preferred. The auditions for Miss Earth Botswana 2024 are scheduled to take place in Gaborone on October 7, 2023. She said contestants who are unable to attend in person and are located outside Gaborone will have the option to submit their auditions online.

They are expected to register and submit full names, high-quality photos and a brief project description highlighting their passion for environmental advocacy. A non-refundable audition fee of P250 is required and payment details will be provided upon registration confirmation. She encouraged aspiring beauty queens to audition for Miss Earth Botswana 2023 in large numbers.
