The club’s board chairperson, Goitsemodimo Tsietsano said the partnership has come at an exciting time when the club is venturing into Africa. He was speaking on Wednesday evening, during Galaxy’s launch of a partnership with Naledi Mining Services and the unveiling of the 2023-02024 season kits. Tsietsano said the early success the team has enjoyed is a morale boost to reach much greater heights.

He said the club wants to dominate local football and claim a stake amongst the continent’s best. “As we speak we are classified amongst the top 32 teams in Africa. My belief is, with the partnership we have forged, this is going to be easy for us. I would like to appreciate the partnership we started with Naledi Mining Services and give assurance that it is going to be a long-lasting partnership.

The impact of the partnership is going to be massive within our communities and the sporting fraternity because our intention is to dominate local football and Africa as well,” Tsietsano said. Naledi Mining Services’ CEO, Bokang Thitoyamore said the partnership is a testament to the company’s vision of impacting the people and the community they operate in.

Thitoyamore said Naledi Mining Services and Galaxy share a vision of pushing boundaries, excellence and making a difference in the lives of the people in the community.

“The world of sports has evolved into a highly tactical domain demanding significant investments to enable our athletes to reach peak performance levels. We need to support you as the business community. Sports now serves as a livelihood for those engaged in it; it can be done for us but it is a business on its own. It is imperative that we make notable efforts to boost our athletes' development and draw audiences to the stadiums to ensure the long-term sustainability of our sports teams,” Thitoyamore said.

Naledi Mining Services is the newest kid in the local mining scene with less than a year in business. The company specialises in the provision of skilled labour to the mining industry and maintenance services of Earth Moving Machines (EVM). Galaxy on the other hand are celebrating their ninth anniversary this year. The club has had a very fruitful period in its short existence.

The team was formed in 2014 and has won the league championship twice while finishing as runners-up on three occasions in their five seasons in the top flight. The team has two Mascom Top 8 titles and a Debswana First Division South League title to add to their ever-increasing trophy cabinet. The Galaxy Stars have become the fastest local side to reach the group stages of the CAF Champions League.

The team achieved the feat in the 2021-2022 season and it was only their second appearance in the competition.
