According to Tutume Police Station commander, Superintendent Lesego Kgosiemang, they have sent the unclaimed man’s fingerprints to the ZRP through Interpol so that they can assist in identifying the deceased. He said they are awaiting feedback from their counterparts from the neighbouring country and would decide whether to bury the victim once the Zimbabwean authorities have informed the situation.

Kgosiemang said the deceased would have to be given an immediate burial instead of overstaying in the morgue once informed. He added that no postmortem has been performed, therefore, the deceased's cause of death is unknown.

"His post-mortem will be done after we have identified his family,” continued the Tutume station commander. Earlier in August, the police issued a spot announcement appealing for members of the public to help identify the corpse of an unknown man at Tutume Primary Hospital Mortuary.

The deceased, who is suspected to be aged between 50 and 65 years, was found lying motionless with a wound on the head at a stream in Selolwane Ward on August 10. The man is coffee-colour in complexion and was found wearing a black T-shirt only.
