A night of endless laughter at GIMC comedy

Opening up the show was local comedian, Baldwin Bals also known as Bals, who warmed up the room for the night’s Master of Ceremonies (MC), Tips Shampoo from South Africa.
Thapelo Seemise, also known as TIPS ("Through Inspiration People Succeed") or Tips Shampoo, is a South African comedian, actor, choreographer and dancer best known for his role as Shampoo in the feature film Taxi Ride and its spin-off series of the same name. Shampooniza, as affectionately known by his diehard fans' energy on the stand up comedy could not go unnoticed. He got the audience cracking in laughter throughout the night. His jokes came naturally and he made jokes about everyday life experiences.
He made jokes about some couples and single people at the show. However, his jokes did not sound offensive but rather thrilling as they got couples and single people laughing their lungs out. The Limpopo-based comedian got people cracking in laughter when he said he had never in his life seen a black person quarrel in English. He also talked of how some people failed to laugh and putting on serious faces because instead of enjoying the show, they were busy thinking of their debts.
Local comedian Depay kick-started the show. However, some of his jokes did not sound funny but rather more like story telling therefore getting a few people laughing their lungs out. Maybe that was because most of the jokes had been made in the previous shows. Johnny Pula got in the stage with his hyper energy and managed to win a few hearts.
Triccs, a talented local comedian who portrays the tsotsis also known a pantsulas, also won the hearts of the revellers. His funny gestures and jokes had the whole amphitheatre cracking in laughter as he compared pantsula life to those of ‘macat’ (Hip Hop music lovers). He cracked jokes about how pantsulas were stingy and made budgets when going out while the other guys go to expensive places, buy expensive beverages without care, something he described as a waste of weekend’s budget for pantsula or manyora.
He also joked about how he was an ex-convict. As usual, Thapelo Malani, a visually impaired man who made jokes of his situation made the audience laugh until their eyes were teary. He made so many jokes about being visually impaired saying it had both advantages and disadvantages. The man of the hour, an SA comedian famed as Chester Missing, intrigued the audience with his endless jokes that were mostly about politics, what is happening in SA and worldwide. He also made jokes about everyday life and the audience.
