He delivered this clear message to members of the ruling party over the weekend, This topic had created divisions within the party leading up to the recent National Council and extraordinary congress here.

Bulela Ditswe has historically sparked dissatisfaction and internal disputes within the BDP, prompting some party regions to advocate for the abandonment of these controversial primary elections. However, the party ultimately decided to proceed with Bulela Ditswe despite its imperfections. Tsogwane urged party members not to fixate solely on Bulela Ditswe, stressing that people were beginning to regard these primary elections as the sole determinant of everyday life within the BDP.

He cautioned against excessive excitement, which could lead to recklessness, and reminded members that elections, by their nature, are contentious, potentially giving rise to dissatisfaction and unwarranted behaviour. “Elections by nature are contentious which could lead to disgruntlement and at times unwarranted behaviour.

Let me appeal to you to once more develop a frame of mind that will allow us to put the party and the country ahead of ourselves," he said. President Mokgweetsi Masisi and leader of the BDP addressed party members as they approached the Bulela Ditswe elections. He emphasised that no individual's wants nor needs should take precedence over those of the party. “We are here to prepare ourselves for the primary elections, but people should know that engagement does not guarantee marriage.

The real marriage is the general election,” he pointed out. Masisi further cautioned BDP members against carrying grudges from the Bulela Ditswe process into the general election. He urged members who do not succeed in the primaries not to engage in actions that could sabotage their own party during the national election. He underscored that, no matter how highly individuals may think of themselves, the party always takes precedence.
