The deceased, a 35-year-old Zimbabwean residing in the Lesunyana ward, was spotted by a passerby in a prone state, bleeding by the roadside. The observer promptly reported the matter to the police in the early hours of Saturday, at around 3am. Preliminary investigations suggest that before the unfortunate incident, the deceased had engaged in a confrontation with other men at a local Chibuku depot, which subsequently escalated into a physical altercation. Superintendent Unoziba Rari, the head of Tlokweng police station overseeing the case, revealed that the victim was swiftly taken to Mafitlhakgosi clinic for medical attention.

However, the injuries proved fatal and he passed away while receiving treatment.

Rari explained that the victim bore visible bodily injuries, indicating signs of bruising, hinting at a potential assault that left him severely hurt and abandoned at the roadside. Rari asserted that the investigation is currently ongoing to piece together the sequence of events and apprehend any individuals involved in the incident.

He appealed to the public to exercise restraint, especially when consuming alcohol, as altercations that arise in such contexts can tragically escalate into fatal outcomes. "Investigations into the matter are ongoing to establish what transpired and arrest the suspect(s). I am pleading with members of the public to control their temper as fights that erupt while people are drinking alcohol that usually leads to murder remains a concern," he emphasised.
