GUC’s managing director, Antorney Joseph through the signing of the two MoA’s the aim is to provide a framework within which members of the two organisations can access education and training in line with their career aspirations.

Joseph said the learning institution aims to make a meaningful impact in the education sector targeting both the senior secondary leavers and the working class while also achieving social development.

“We are committed to achieving Botswana's aspirations of sustainable economic growth at a higher level, human and social development, and sustainable environmental development in line with UN Agenda 2030, Vision 2036 and Africa's Agenda 2063. Our different initiatives at academic, physical and community level are aimed at enhancing Botswana's peace and stability derived from good governance. As an institution, we continue to partner with various stakeholders to promote skills development in the country, ” Joshua said.

He also announced that GUC has attained ISO 9001 Quality Management System Certification. Joshua was speaking recently at the GUC’s library and science laboratories block official opening ceremony. The institution has invested P30million in to the newly erected project and targets an expansion of services in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) field.

The new building has a total floor area of 2142 metre square comprising of a gym, ground floor car parking, a library occupying the whole first floor. The Second floor is dedicated to laboratory space for biology, chemistry, physics and Occupational Health & Safety (OHS). In the third floor there is a nursing lab and lecture rooms.

“This improved physical infrastructure is enabling us to broaden our programme's menu so that we respond to the human resource needs of our country. As a result of this new building we are about to open officially, we are now full into the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) area which area of human resource development is very undersubscribed in Botswana especially from the private institutions side,” Joshua said.
