Addressing the 2023 BOSETU annual conference in Palapye, union president Winston Radikolo said the enforcement of such a law will go a long way towards ensuring that public servants, workers in general and teachers in particular reach a level where they go home with a decent pay.

“The government's Vision 2036 of having citizens reach a high-income bracket will be realised if small changes like adherence to minimum take-home pay are enforced," said Radikolo.

He says one of the possible solutions is to regulate the interest rates of micro-lending.

“we acknowledge that some of the neighbouring countries limit these interest rates to twice the prime rate," he added.

“ A study and national credit policy must clearly stipulate the range at which the lenders should work with. We believe the current rates are not sustainable and contribute to our members being indebted for a long time,” Radikolo appealed.
