Confirming the incident to Mmegi Online, Paul Oketsang, the officer in charge of No.2 District, disclosed that they were informed yesterday of a case involving a 40-year-old man who reportedly raped his 36-year-old sister.

According to Oketsang, the two individuals had been residing together for a considerable period, but the situation took a grave turn when the brother is said to have assaulted and raped his sister. 'The sister arrived where she resides with her brother and went to bed at around 12:30am in the room she shares with her brother,' Oketsang revealed.

Subsequently, Oketsang conveyed that the brother proceeded to perpetrate the act of rape against his sister while she was sleeping. 'After raping her, he hit the sister with fists on the face and now her face is swollen,' Oketsang highlighted. The officer in charge further disclosed that authorities have arrested the brother, who is currently under police custody, pending further investigation into the matter.

In addition to this incident, Oketsang informed Mmegi Online that the police are looking into another grievous case of rape involving a young woman. 'We are also investigating a case where a 19-year-old from Mmashoro was raped after she had visited her friend at Makwa Cattle post,' he conveyed.

Elaborating on the matter, Oketsang stated that on her way back home, the teenager was suddenly ambushed by an unidentified assailant who emerged unexpectedly.

The assailant forcibly disrobed her and subjected her to a horrendous sexual assault. Currently, no arrests have been made concerning this case, as the identity of the perpetrator remains unknown.

Oketsang appealed to the general public to exercise vigilance and awareness regarding such perpetrators who commit heinous acts against women. He further emphasised the importance of men assuming the role of protectors for their female family members, rather than perpetrating crimes against their kin.
