Around 7pm in Broadhurst Extension 16, Gaborone, right after a delivery shout, the scene turned into a proper mugging.

Superintendent Obusitswe Lokae, head honcho at Broadhurst Police Station, told The Monitor the driver was still handing out gas cylinders when some dodgy men rolled into the yard.

The crafty crooks popped the motor’s locks, grabbed a sack with undisclosed amounts of cash, and did a runner in a Honda Fit. “The driver managed to chase after them with his gas vehicle until they reached Extension 27 location.

He hit their car from behind.

Then, the criminals got out of the car and ran away abandoning their vehicle in the middle of the road. When the driver was still fighting with the criminals some other people came and stole two 19kg gas cylinders,” he said. Lokae said that preliminary investigations suggest the crooks must have hired the Honda Fit from a rental place.

They're on the hunt to find the person who did the car rental. “While running away, it is alleged that the criminals also threw stones at the gas delivery vehicle and ended up breaking the vehicle’s windscreen. Luckily the gas delivery guy did not sustain injuries. Investigations are ongoing to locate and arrest the suspects,” he said.
