In an interview, Moshupa Police Station station commander David Ramoseki told Mmegi Online that the victims took matters into their own hands after an intruder stormed in the house at night and demanded cash at knifepoint.

“A 27-year-old man was busy watching television with his girlfriend. The man then answered to a door bell when an intruder appeared. The intruder then pulled a knife on the 27-year-old man and demanded money right at the door,” Station commander said.

Upon hearing that his boyfriend’s life was under threat, Ramoseki stated that the 27-year-old man's girlfriend sneaked out of the house to ask for help from her boyfriend’s uncle.

“When the uncle arrived he and his nephew restrained the intruder, he beat him with beer bottles and a square tube steel on his head and his legs,” Ramoseki said.

Ramoseki highlighted that after the intruder was given a heavy beating by the uncle and his nephew, the two called the police. He further told this publication that the intruder was beaten and needed medical care urgently. “The intruder was beaten by the duo to a point where he was just lying there, unable to move nor do anything to himself.

He was however conscious and we then rushed him to the nearest clinic,” he said.

"When we got to the clinic, the intruder was then referred to Kanye Seventh Day Adventist Hospital looking at the injuries he sustained". Ramoseki further stated that even at Kanye, the intruder was referred to Princess Marina Hospital once more.

“Those people really beat the intruder to a point that he was referred to Marina and even to date he is still hospitalized,” he said.

The station commander said that the intruder would continue to be monitored and be investigated for attempted robbery. He however urged people to always remain vigilant and be on the look out for the perpetrators so that the community could be at rest.
