The incident occurred on a Saturday afternoon when the young man was discovered hanging from a tree on the outskirts of the village. The discovery was made by the man's family members, who had become concerned after he left home abruptly, expressing his intent to take his own life.

Alarmed by his statement, they promptly reported the situation to the local police. Senior Superintendent Paul Oketsang, the Commanding Officer of No.2 District, provided additional details.

He revealed that before this tragedy, the deceased had been issuing threats to his family about ending his life. These threats were reportedly linked to the presence of 'muti', a traditional charm, in their yard. "Investigations have revealed that on August 10 his family took him to Sekgoma Memorial Hospital, where doctors identified the presence of drugs in his bloodstream," Senior Superintendent Oketsang shared.

Since then, he had been persistently warning his family that he would resort to suicide due to his inability to live in a yard containing the muti. In separate incidents under investigation, Senior Superintendent Oketsang also shared that the Palapye police are actively searching for a 27-year-old man from Extension 1, Palapye.

This individual reportedly left his residence on a Wednesday and he has not been seen since. "His family opened a case of a missing person on Saturday after they failed to get hold of him," Oketsang stated.

In another case, a 14-year-old girl from Extension 6, Palapye who attends Mmaphula Junior Secondary School and has been reported missing after informing her family that she was visiting a friend. Regrettably, she never made it back home, and despite diligent efforts by her parents to locate her through friends and relatives, their search yielded no results.
