Kgosi Linchwe is no more

The family spokesperson and Bakgatla Regent Kgosi Mothibe Linchwe informed Bakgatla at the Mochudi main Kgotla yesterday about the chief's passing away.
The family delegation lead by Mothibe went to South Africa on Friday to check on him and from reports his condition had not improved.
Meanwhile all the cases at the Bakgatla kgotla will be suspended pending preparations for the funeral and memorial services that will be held at the Kgotla.
Kgosi Linchwe did his secondary education at St. Joseph's College while he studied in the United kingdom for his post secondary education. In 1966 he married the Bakgatla first wife Mohumagadi Mma Seigwaeng and soon after he was appointed Botswana's Ambassador to the United States of America (USA) until 1979. Linchwe ascended to the Bakgatla chieftainship throne in 1963 when he took over from his uncle Mmusi Pilane.
Kgosi was a strong believer in tribal regiment and initiation schools of Bogwera and Bojale. He will be remembered as the leading voice in customary rites and practices.
He is survived by his wife and four children, three boys and a girl. Funeral arrangements had not been completed at the time of going to press.
