This was a wise decision made by a number of revellers who thronged the Bals and Bloody Fools Stand Up Comedy.

Despite the cold weather, all the talented comedians came prepared to crack their audiences’ ribs with laughter on Friday evening at the Maitisong Amphitheatre. The MC for the day, Bambino kicked off the event on a high note.

Even though at the beginning people were quiet and cold, his energy changed the Theatre’s atmosphere. He made the audience stand and cheer for him asking women to say they wanted to marry him while the gentlemen had to say they wanted to be him.

Even though it was funny, the audience did what they were asked.

He made them sing hymns from different churches and the way he mimicked how those churches sing and dance was funny. He made a lot of jokes about different things in real life.

His jokes made the comedy night a thrill. For his part, 18-year-old Phetso, who is still new in the comedy industry, made jokes about his childhood, comparing how parents in suburbs and townships groom their children. He talked of how his mother would beat him up if he breaks something despite him asking for forgiveness even when she was just coming from church on Sunday while parents in suburbs would pamper their children even if they had broken their favourite cup or glass.

The other funny man was Thapelo Malani, a visually impaired man who made jokes about his situation. In one of his jokes, he said his girlfriend would see him walking about in the house and ask if he was looking for something. He made so many jokes about being visually impaired saying it had both advantage and disadvantages. Malani, who lost his vision when he was 12-years-old, said he learnt to live and embrace his situation. Mawee, who is one of the veterans and has won a number of comedy prizes at the National Arts Festival competition both regionally and nationally, also showed the audience what he was made of. He cracked a few jokes that left the audience wiping off tears from their eyes. However, the man of the night, Bals who was celebrating seven years in the industry, outdid himself.

With his parents present, he made jokes about his past relationships and kept blaming it on alcohol. He also made jokes that he was ugly and was never approached by women. He said the only time he was approached by a woman, she asked him to do her a favour and give her his friend’s number. Before dishing out his endless jokes that got the audience screaming and laughing their lungs out, he made a great entrance as he walked down the stairs to the stage while the audience cheered him. Moreover, Mjamica later joined and cracked at few jokes.
