He explained that they would like to invest in the artists’ brand through more press-related mediums and be able to build a community of followers. He also said they were looking into getting their artists the blue verification badge on social media as a way to make them stand out from other creatives in the country. Magano added that they believed that this would add value and a good reputation for artists. “I believe Botswana has the talent but the disadvantage is that they do not know the business side of things.

So I try to find potential clients and investors for these artists so they get exposure and eventually break into the international market,” said Magano. He said this could only happen by aligning themselves with good brands that have the same value as the creative. “Already there are some things we are looking into implementing in the coming months or so,” he said.

He further explained that those things would allow his clients to stand out. Whilst he is determined to make this work, he said he faces challenges along the way. This includes some clients not honouring contractual obligations or paying artists what they deserve. He said he, therefore, found better ways to benefit his clients through strategies and business tools.

He added that they have entertainment lawyers on their team that helped draft up short-term contracts where necessary. So far, Magano said he is of the view that they were off to a good start.

He further explained that a local musician, Girly whom they were working with is already getting booked for gigs. He explained that this now means the artist could strictly focus on her music while he took care of the business side and promoting her music and brand. “Rexx Mautle who does paintings and Graphic design work will be able to also align his brand with clients that have the same company vision and that will help us create work that will emotionally invest with local people and an international audience.

“For now my main objective is to try to rebrand the KFC package with Rexx Mautle and start a limited edition package for the Botswana KFC. We are working on a template and looking to present it to KFC,” Magano explained. He further explained that he met Rexx Mautle when they worked on the St Louis painting together where he (Magano) was able to document some of his moments. He said Kgalagadi Breweries Limited (KBL) was impressed with the painting Rexx Mautle did for St Louis. He added that he believed Rexx Maute had a lot of potential and was capable of getting other deals internationally if they could execute the strategies they set for the year accordingly.
