“In today's digital age, the importance of cyber security cannot be overstated. With the increasing number of cyber threats and attacks, organizations must adopt effective strategies to protect their sensitive information and maintain the trust of their customers,” Checkpoint Software Territory Lead Felani Banda revealed during the partnership launch this week.

The partnership between Carerra holdings and Checkpoint is expected to bring together expertise in cyber security to develop innovative solutions to address emerging threats. Through combining their resources and knowledge they aim to provide comprehensive protection against malware, ransom ware, phishing attacks and other forms of cyber crime.

Banda stated that both Checkpoint and Carerra Holdings understand that cyber security is not just about technology but also about people. He said they prioritize employee training programs to educate staff on best practices for data protection and ensure they remain vigilant against phishing attempts or social engineering attacks. The partnership set is to make Batswana more cyber aware.

“Checkpoint has developed a comprehensive approach to safeguarding data. They offer a range of products and services including firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, and threat intelligence platforms. Checkpoint constantly monitors network traffic and identifying potential threats in real-time ensuring that their clients systems remain secure,” Banda highlighted.

Speaking at the event Minister of Communications, Knowledge and Technology, Thulaganyo Segokgo said the government has partnered with both the public and private sectors to develop the necessary infrastructure and platforms to connect Batswana to e-services. “The government has adopted a technology agnostic approach to cyber security, focusing on developing and implementing robust policies and frameworks that can adapt to evolving threat landscape” he emphasized.

Similarly, Carerra holdings indicated that they recognise the significance of cyber security in today's business landscape. As an IT consulting firm, they provide tailored solutions to address their client’s specific needs. Their strategy involves conducting thorough risk assessments, implementing robust security measures such as encryption and multi-factor authentication, and regularly updating software to mitigate vulnerabilities.

By adopting cyber security as a core strategy, these companies say they have demonstrated their commitment to protecting sensitive information from potential threats. They have highlighted that this proactive approach not only safeguards their own operations but also instills confidence in their clients who rely on them for secure services. The companies have expressed that they have managed to expand business in the country to Maun and Francistown and want to further expand abroad.

Meanwhile, one of the clients Botswana Power Corporation, IT Infrastructure and Operations Manager Godfrey Mathumo commended their relationship with Checkpoint. “Checkpoint has helped maintain the continuity of our operations and minimized the potential for costly interruptions,” he said.
