Cooper fails to impress Cape Town Spurs

Cooper is a free agent after he parted ways with Gaborone United (GU) after the expiry of his contract last month. He has been trying his luck with Spurs having spent the last week with the team.
The 26-year-old was left out of the COSAFA squad as he is in the hunt for a new team. But South African media reports indicate Spurs has decided against signing Cooper after he failed to impress the technical team led by Shaun Bartlett.
“He didn’t necessarily impress the coach, so they decided they would not sign him. He left Cape Town on Tuesday after spending a week training with the club,” a source close to the proceedings is quoted by South African football publication, FARPost.
Cooper’s return to the local league is not imminent as he is linked with South Africa’s second-tier side, Pretoria Callies. The Pretoria-based side has been following the midfielder’s progress for some time now.
The club scouted the 22-capped Zebras midfielder during the Orange FA Cup final late last month. Cooper has played for GU, Rollers, Extension Gunners, and Jwaneng Galaxy locally.
He also had short stints with Morocco’s Mouloudia d’Oudja and Lusaka Dynamos in Zambia. Meanwhile, former Masitaoka coach, Mandla Mpofu has joined Sua Flamengos on a one-year deal.
