Tlokweng Police Station commander, Superintendent Unoziba Rari said the teenager’s neighbour reported the decomposed body after foul odours emanating from his father’s rented space.

According to Rari, the teenage boy was found dead at Metlhabeng Ward, and the cause of death has not yet been determined. At the time the teen was found dead, his father was not present, he added.

Rari indicated the father was later taken into police custody at Maun Police Station. “His father will be transferred to our custody for questioning this week. We want to find out what transpired before he went to Maun. We also want to understand in what state he left his son before heading back to his village,” he said. The Tlokweng station chief also said they did not receive any reports of a missing teenager yet the condition of the deceased body clearly shows he was dead for some time. According to the reports from neighbours, the deceased teenager did not attend school at the time.

Investigations on the matter continue.
