Francistown Colour Festival is back

The once popular event which was last hosted in 2012 is anticipated to attract people from different villages in the north eastern part of the country. One of the event organisers, Pablo Tshambani told Arts & Culture that the event is meant to foster harmony among the regions' various ethnic groups.
He stated that the vibrant and fun festival aims to attract over 800 fans. "The last time the Colour Festival was held, over 250 people attended, and with this year's to be held at Limpopo Leisure Gardens, we expect even higher numbers," Tshambani said. He expressed his excitement about the change of venue saying the place is suitable for such events.
He said the area has always demonstrated its suitability to host activities that are family oriented. "Limpopo Leisure Gardens is a family-oriented fun adventure place and features a water park with tippy buckets, which is an interactive above ground feature that creates excitement and anticipation while waiting for the buckets to fill and spill," he explained.
Furthermore, Tshambani explained that the Colour Festival will not only cater for families but would bring the corporate world and friends together for business networking and pleasure.
Tshambani indicated that the paints used will be different as they intend to use non-toxic powder paints which will be suitable for all health conditions. Additionally, he stated that attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of different activities, including colour splashing, face painting, zipline, and quad bikes.
"We recommend that attendees wear white clothes so that they can be finished off with a colourful plaster,” he concluded. After the family-oriented fun games, Tshambani said there would be a festival headlined by local performers and DJ's such as DJ Que, DJ Missy, DJ Chen and others that to wrap up the day's festivities.
