The heavily pregnant Kitso Mokonopi is facing a single count of murder and is said to have taken the life of her boyfriend, Mompati Keatlhotswe when she stabbed him with a sharp object.

Prosecutor Botho Gobuamang did not oppose the accused being granted bail during an appearance at the Village Magistrate's Court. After spending the past two weeks in police custody, Gobuamang did not stand in the way of Mokonopi's bail bid. “Investigations are still underway and for this, the state does not oppose the accused being granted bail provided she follows certain grounds of her bail,” she said. Gobuamang stated that the accused should be able to provide two sureties that will be required to pay P1,000 each. The prosecutor further echoed that the accused should make it her top priority to refrain from meddling with witnesses and the investigation. Mokonopi is also mandated to always appear before the court when required to.

The presiding magistrate, Tshepo Thedi, who is also a senior magistrate at the Village court, did not oppose what the prosecutor put forward and granted the accused bail.

Thedi then set Mokonopi's next mention date for August 8 this year. The case will return for a third mention and the senior magistrate will expect to hear updates on proceedings in the case from the state.
