Kehitile to challenge Majaga for Nata-Gweta

Kehitile is currently using his position as TDC chairperson in his campaign for the 2024 General Election. The TDC chairperson has held several kgotla meetings with the Nata-Gweta constituents.
The Nata-Gweta incumbent parliamentarian, Polson Majaga, has the intention to defend his position at the next year’s polls. Kehitile was open about the prospect of running for the Nata-Gweta parliamentary seat in an interview with The Monitor. He expressed his political aspirations of contesting for the parliamentary seat.
The TDC chair indicated that given the opportunity he will exercise his democratic right to run for the position just like any other candidate. Kehitile further mentioned that he was approached by several people in the constituency trying to convince him to run for the position. He assumes that it is in his favour to contest for the position as people have recognised his potential.
“I have the leadership skills and academic credentials to serve in Parliament,” he added. Kehitile indicated that he will announce his position to run for office in due time. According to the TDC leader, he is still in discussion with constituents over his future political interests.
Kehitile defected to BPF two years ago which move raised speculation that he was going to challenge Majaga in the next general elections. Majaga has successfully held onto the parliamentary seat for three consecutive terms. Nata-Gweta MP received 4,754 votes in the 2019 General Elections while BPF’s Joe Linga garnered 3,186, while 1,442 votes went to the UDC with 85 spoilt votes.
