No2 District officer commanding, Senior Superintendent Paul Oketsang said the incident happened on June 10 in the evening at Moshakgalo Lands near Maape village.

Speaking on the matter, Oketsang said the 31-year-old victim went to collect firewood at the nearest bush and was accompanied by her cousin, 30. He narrated that while the cousin duo was still collecting firewood the ex-boyfriend emerged from nowhere.

Oketsang stated that the suspect then approached the duo, twisted his ex-girlfriend’s arm, and dragged her behind nearby trees where he sexually violated her. He indicated that the 30-year-old woman who happened to witness the incident tried to help her cousin but the suspect overpowered them both. After allegedly sexually assaulting his ex-girlfriend, the suspect then fled the area.

“We are still searching for the suspect who has disappeared after the wrongful act. The victim was taken to hospital for medical treatment but no arrest was made as the suspect was not found at home,” he added. The investigation continues.
