Gunners chairperson blames ‘muti’ for relegation

The iconic Lobatse-based side was relegated to the Debswana First Division South league after finishing 15th in the just ended season. It was a campaign to forget for Mapantsula as they will be playing in the dusty grounds for the first time in the Premier League era.
Addressing the club’s membership on Saturday, Ngwamotsoko said the technical and playing personnel were disturbed throughout the season by outside interference.
He said a large section of the Gunners’ supporters believed they could help the team get results by the use of muti, thus disturbing the team’s progress on the field. “There is too much interference of supporters on the running of the team, especially when it comes to 1-2s, molemo. He said the problem starts at the branch level.
The special meeting held at the Newlook Primary School only attracted just a few of the club’s members. The members on Saturday were updated on the health bill of the club.
Ngwamotsoko stated that Gunners remain in debt. He said the club operated with a zero budget for the just ended season. He said Gunners remain in the red as the club debts exceed P100,000.
“We have to stand up as Gunners members because we will soon be required to submit for club licensing. The main issue is the club’s debts, other requirements can be managed but we are in debt. This will block us from acquiring a full club license so we need to pay all those we owe so we can submit for club licensing without any problems,” Ngwamotsoko said.
