The reappointments were confirmed by the party’s president, Biggie Butale, in an interview on Sunday. The reinstatements come following the duo’s suspension for misconduct.

Khama, Bosilong, councillor Vuyo Northa were suspended by the BPF president after they were accused of tarnishing the party image and misconduct early this year. “It is true we have uplifted the suspension of Khama and Bosilong while the two others still remain suspended. Their case was referred to a party disciplinary hearing.

Each case was looked into differently as they are not the same. The NEC met recently and made those decisions and we have written to them,” Butale said. He added that the BPF leadership, which is the National Executive Committee (NEC), was doing all in its power to restore peace within the party and committee.

Of recent, the BPF factions were divided about holding an elective congress. Butale’s faction preferred an extraordinary congress over an elective congress. They want an elective congress to be held after the 2024 General Election, adding that an elective congress is divisive and can negatively affect preparations for the general elections.

On the other hand, Tshekedi and company were of the view that the current BPF NEC has overstayed hence there should be elections. Meanwhile, senior BPF member Moiseraele Goya has dismissed rumours that he is in talks with the Botswana Congress Party (BCP) to join them. “It must be understood that I am a member of BPF in good standing and I was not suspended by the party. I was only interdicted by the court to stop attending or writing any letter on behalf of the BPF. I do not have any intention of joining any party. I am not in talks with BCP and they have not approached me,” he said.
