Motorsport body suspends president

Modisaemang had just returned to the BMS top seat earlier this year and previously had troubled tenures. This publication has been informed that Modisaemang had demanded an apology for an alleged defamation by the association against himself.
The administrator is said have been accused by the BMS leadership of using administrative funds for personal use in 2016. This resulted in the motorsport office in the country getting suspended by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) after internal bickering and failure to pay the affiliation licence fees.
Speaking to Sport Monitor, a source said Modisaemang has allegedly further added four members to a committee that consists of only five members. The move irked some of the affiliate members and moved to suspend the president. For his part, Modisaemang said: “We just completed Khawa with five members and the four I had brought.
We had an 18 months plan to mend the sport and I thought we were moving in the right direction until all this happened. But I hope whoever is behind will see their wrong and put things back in order.” The boardroom wars are said to be boiling inside the BMS membership. Observers, however, have termed this as “just silly politics”.
The association, which has a good record of internal bickering previously, had its administrative duties handled by the Botswana National Sport Commission. Modisaemang has meanwhile travelled to Strasbourg, France for the FIA executive meeting on Saturday. He is a member of the committee for Africa.
