The 2022 BMS Best Rider is the overall winner of the 2 Rivers Off-Road held in the Rakola Farms on Saturday morning.

The biker made his debut in the BMS championship OR1 over the weekend in a fast paced and strong line-up as the riders enjoyed the first 200km of the 2023 season.

The 2016 Dakar Rally competitor, Vincent Crosbie returned to competitive action after a more than a year absence. John Kelly, 2022 Dakar Rally biker also lined up on the cold morning.

The competitors did five 40km laps as a number of good times were recorded on the day. Mamaloukos took charge of the race early on with Kelly and Crosbie on the chase.

The young rider finished first ahead of the two elite bikers to win the OR1 class and the overall classification in a time of 2:36:45.1. “It was first day race of the season and I had to come gun blazing.

I had seen my fitness on and off road, so I feel good right now. I enjoyed it and I am happy with my speed and my consistency right now. It is definitely ground work from here and it has paved the way for us from here,” Mamaloukos said after the race. Kelly was second and Crosbie was third. Alex Scherer won 0R2 class while Victor Du Toit is first in the OR3. Reigning champion, Seth Meyer began his season with a win in the High School clash and Tadiwa Tafa emerged as the female class champion.
